The Annual Wings Night ceremony was held this year on December 16th at the UNSW Aviation hangar at Bankstown Airport. The address was given by Capt (Dr) Simon Henderson, A330 Fleet Standards Manager, Virgin Australia. With extensive experience flying in the RAAF, Ansett and Emirates, and a PhD entitled "Frames in the Flight Deck; a sociological approach to Situation Awareness". Simon gave a memorable address with many good lessons for junior pilots. Simon also awarded Wings to the recipients.

Capt Barry Jackson (AIPA President) gave the AIPA Prize for Best Pilot to Xavier De Chasteigner Du Mee, and the AIPA Prize for Most Improved Pilot to Estelle Loyer.

This year a new prize was awarded to the overall best performer in both academic and flying programs, named the AFAP Prize for Dux Volans. Capt Robin Anderson, an Eastern pilot who is a long standing member of AFAP, presented this Prize. It went to Xavier De Chasteigner Du Mee.

As is the custom, after all uniforms were changed to civvies, the flying students left in a bus to explore the social opportunities in the Rocks.

The School thanks both AIPA and AFAP for their support.
